How it Works
Flash Climbing is a bouldering centre offering rock climbing for adults and children (aged 4+) from beginners to seasoned climbers. Bouldering is free climbing without ropes up to a height of 4.2 metres above crash mats. Bouldering is an accessible sport with a sociable and inclusive atmosphere, it’s a full body work out and makes a great alternative to the gym.
If you want to give it a go you’ll need to register, either online, or when you get to Flash, then on your first visit we’ll give you a safety briefing and explain how it all works. If you want a more in depth introduction you could book onto one of our instructed sessions below.
Taster Sessions (Adults and children aged 14+)
We offer instructed taster sessions to introduce you to bouldering at Flash under the supervision of one of our friendly instructors. Aimed at newcomers to the sport, this one hour session will get you climbing safely and teach you some basic techniques to help get the most out of using the centre.
After the session you’re welcome to continue climbing on your own. Shoe hire is included.
Kids After School Sessions
We offer instructed climbing sessions for kids during term time. These sessions run on Mondays, and Thursdays and involve challenges, games and loads of climbing with an instructor. Suitable for ages 6-13.
Ages 6-13 (60 mins) – Monday and Friday 16:30-17:30
Our improver sessions are for those that want to up their climbing game or who’ve hit a plateau and need help to break through it. This session will identify weaknesses and areas that can be improved and through drills and training help you achieve your climbing goals.
Come and have a chat with a member of staff so we can understand your aims and find the best coach to work with you.
Schools & Youth Groups
As well as our regular kids sessions we also offer instructed sessions for schools, youth and scout groups. Whether it’s a one off, or over the course of a term we can tailor the session to your needs. Give us a call on 0121 448 4080 to find out more.

Q: I’m under 18 years old. Do I need to bring an adult with me?
A: Yes, you do. Under our rules, one adult can accompany up to two U18s, and must supervise them at all times.
Q: Do I need to book before I come?
A: No booking is required if you intend on free bouldering without instruction. If you would like to be instructed, or want to book onto a yoga or aerial class, you will need to book in advance. We recommend that you fill in the waiver online before you come, to save you some time on the day.
Q: Why do you only have almond and soy milk for tea and coffee?
A: Flash Climbing is a vegan business, and all the products we sell in all capacities are vegan – shoes, milk, food, snacks. If you’re not used to drinking dairy-free milk, we recommend almond milk for a substitute, or soy if you prefer a sweeter taste.
